League Bowling Has It's Rewards
Summer Leagues Forming
It's never too soon, the Summer
Leagues will be forming. Check the monitor's
desk at the Sports Pavilion for sign ups.
2010/2011 Leagues Forming
Current league bowlers have until April 15th
or until the last week of league bowling to re-register
up for your league for the 2010-2011 season. These
bowlers are considered “grandfathered in”. League
bowlers who do not re-register before April 15th,
are not “grandfathered in” and must use the process
below to fill vacancies in a league.
All league vacancies including vacancies resulting from
current league bowlers who do not re-register for their
league by April 15th will be filled in the
following manner:
Starting May 15th, league vacancies for the
2010-2011 season must be filled by SCW residents who
have signed up to fill league vacancies at the sign up
book at Johnson Lanes
Any remaining vacancies for the 2010-11 season, not
filled by SCW residents can be filled starting May 15th
by eligible non-resident bowlers who have signed up for
league vacancies at the sign up book at Johnson Lanes
Red Pin Tournament
A
Red-Pin event for March is scheduled for
February
27th. The cost is still $10 per person and
open to anyone 50 years and older.
Mentoring Program
The
Bowling
Mentoring Program is a free refresher course
(bowled at least 1 yr) held on the 1st Saturday
of each month. You pay the lineage, and
the instruction is free. Sign up at
the front desk. The next class will be
held on
March 6th at 9AM.
Bowling Instructional Videos
Training videos from the very
best bowling training centers in the nation.
Such bowling greats as Earl Anthony, Dick Weber,
Dick Ritger, Fred Borden, Norm Duke, Chris
Barnes, Parker Bohn, Lou Scalia and others
provide you with their informative lessons. The
list is growing. You won’t want to miss their
insights if you want to improve on your game.
AZ
Senior Olympics
Johnson Lanes is hosting the AZ Senior Olympics
for bowling and billiards. These events
take place on March 6th and 7th. Check the
Sports Pavilion for entry forms.
AST Tournament
The Arizona
Senior Scratch Tournament (AST) is scheduled for Sunday, February
28th at 11:00AM. Contact Craig Spencer at
(480) 686-5704 for information.
Open Bowling
Open bowling is still available
most weekends and there are a few openings
around the leagues during the week. Check the
monitor's desk for times available.
Learn to Bowl
The Learn to Bowl lessons for
March start on March 3, 2010 and 8:30am. The
lessons run for 3 consecutive Wednesday mornings
(3/3, 3/10,3/17). The cost is $25 per person
and this cost includes the lesson, bowling,
shoes and individual instruction. Lessons are
from 8:30am - 11:00 am. Sign ups at the Sports
Pavilion.
Bowl for the Fun of It
Anyone interested
in bowling for fun, open bowling is usually
available on Saturdays from 9am - 9pm and
Sundays from 12 noon - 5pm. There are various
time also during the week, contact the Sports
Pavilion for available times - 544-6140 or stop
by and pick up a schedule.
The Metro Phoenix USBC Princess Tournament and
the Classic Masters Tournament.
The
annual
Metro Phoenix USBC Princess Tournament and the
Classic Masters Tournament will be held on
February 27th and 28th.
First Annual Lona King Saguaro Sr. PBA Open
1st Annual Lona King Saguaro SR
PBA open is scheduled for 5/23/10 - 5/25/10.
