| The purpose of the Golf Council shall be to: 1. Enhance the pleasure of playing golf on all Sun City West Recreation Center courses. 2. Provide strong, unified support for programs that address the major concerns of all golfers on all Sun City West Courses, recognizing that a problem solved or an improvement made on any Sun City West golf course benefits all Sun City West golfers. The Council consists of the Club Presidents of each of the seven Men’s and Women’s Golf Clubs plus Niners Clubs which currently consist of Pebblebrook and Stardust Women’s Clubs. There are also five at-large members who are members of a chartered golf club and are elected to serve by the sitting Council. The Council also elects a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The Council normally meets the last Thursday of the month (no meetings in July and August) at 2:00 PM in the Acacia Room at Palm Ridge Recreation. At each meeting, reports are given by the Director of Golf Operations and the Director of Environmental Services (Golf Superintendent) as to what is taking place in the Golf Division. We discuss problems that have to do with our golf courses and golf operations and the Council makes suggestions for solving problems and making improvements to our courses and policies. The Governing Board member who is chairman of the Golf Committee also attends the Council meetings. The President of the Golf Council is a member of the Golf Committee as is currently three other members of the Golf Council. This arrangement allows for strong relations and representation between the Council and the Committee. It also allows for the Council to be a sounding board for proposed decisions of Management, the Golf Committee and the Governing Board which would affect all or most of the golfing community in Sun City West. |
