Sun West Art Club
THE SUN WEST ART CLUB was organized in 1979, bringing together SUN CITY WEST residents with a wide range of art experiences, talents, and desires for the enjoyment and development of a greater appreciation of art. The membership continues to increase and the Club is the focal point of art in Sun City West.
The Sun West Art Club headquarters and art rooms, located in Kuentz Recreation Center, are open 6 days a week for lessons as well as Open Art (without instructors). Annual membership dues of $10.00 are paid starting Oct.1 through Jan. 15. New members pay the same amount throughout the year. To participate in classes, open art, shows and exhibits, dues must be paid. Members must Monitor at least once a year. Rules, monitoring information and any other club regulations are available in the art room.
Members meet at 1:00p.m. on the second Monday of each month, October through May, in the R.H. Johnson Social Hall West. Brief business meetings are followed by art demonstrations given by professional artists. Guests are welcome and refreshments are served.
Annual Judged Art Show in February is open to current Club Members. It showcases their skills and talent. Categories : Oil/Acrylic, Water Media, Mixed Media/Experimental, Dry Media Pastel/Drawing/Charcoal/Pencil/Pen and Ink, Sculpture, Beginner and Advanced. Ribbons and prizes for first, second, third place, honorable mention and Best of Show are awarded by the Judges. Guests vote for "Peoples Choice".
Our special holiday party we hold at the December meeting.
