Hall of Fame members exemplify the highest standards of what is desired in bowling through their proficiency and/or through meritorious service.
The Sun City West Bowlers Hall of Fame is sponsored by the Bowlers Association of Sun City West (BASCW). The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to honor, pay tribute to and perpetuate the names of those BASCW members who have contributed to the growth and welfare of the sport of bowling by their bowling proficiency and/or meritorious service.
The BASCW Board of Directors receives nominations and ensures the candidates possess the proper qualifications for nomination. Membership in the Hall of Fame is determined by an election by the BASCW Board. Nominees must have bowled as a regular member of a team in a Sun City West sanctioned winter league for a total of five seasons. There are two categories for admittance: Proficiency and Meritorious.
Proficiency:
A male bowler must have maintained an average of 190 or higher for three consecutive years.
A female bowler must have maintained an average of 170 or higher for three consecutive years.
Other qualifications for both male and female applicants to be considered are: dedication, leadership, personality, and any other achievements.
Meritorious:
A nominee must have demonstrated exemplary volunteer services to enhance and promote the sport of bowling in Sun City West.
Other qualifications to be considered are: dedication, leadership, personality and any other achievements.
Nomination Forms for the Hall of Fame will be available at the Sports Pavilion beginning March 1st. Nominations are to be completed and returned in a sealed envelope to the BASCW board of directors by May 1 to be considered for induction.
The inductees for 2009 will be Marty Bell and Dave Krauter for Proficiency and Dena Martin for Meritorious Service. An induction and dinner ceremony will be held in their honor on Saturday, October 24, 2009. The inductions will begin at 3:30 p.m. followed by a dinner catered by Michael's. No Tap bowling will begin at the regular time. (5:30pm)
Tickets are now on sale for the October 24 induction of our latest candidates for the Hall of Fame. The The cost for dinner tickets will be $11.00 for BASCW members and $12 for non-members. Past inductees and one guest will be hosted by the Association at this event. Look for ticket sales by members of your Board of Directors
